Field Hockey. Basketball. Lacrosse Outstanding Female Athlete.


LORETTA WINTERS BUFFUM - CLass of 1949

Field Hockey. Basketball - Hockey captain; Delaware County All State Hockey team; also played softball and volleyball.


GLADYS HART - Coach

Field Hockey. Basketball. lacrosse - Assisted in field hockey for over 25 years; assisted in basketball over 20 years; head lacrosse coach for over 25 years; first lacrosse coach at SHS; coached several All-American and US Team players. Played field hockey and lacrosse for Philadelphia teams and US Reserve teams.


TED KIRKPATRICK - Class of 1982

Soccer. Basketball. Lacrosse - Outstanding Male Athlete, All-Central in soccer, District Champions; Captain, All-Central, Delco, Tri-State Area Basketball, '81 Eastern Regional champions; Lacrosse State Champions. Dickinson College All-MAC, AII-ECAC 3 years; Outstanding Male Athlete junior, senior years. Dickinson Hall of Fame.


PEGGY MURPHY CELLUCCI - Class of 1968

Field Hockey. Lacrosse - MVP in hockey; tri-captain lacrosse; high school All-American graduate team; Varsity Club president. Rosemont College hockey coach; umpire 15 years sectional field hockey; national lacrosse official.


FRAN JOHNSON - Contributor

34 years volunteering for the Benchwarmers; kept organization afloat by holding dances, selling candy, sodas and hot dogs (purchased with her own funds) to raise money for the Annual Benchwarmers Banquet; planned and organized banquet for SHS athletes. Her four children attended and participated in sports at SHS.

Field Hockey. Basketball. Lacrosse - Service award; Tri-Captain; Varsity Club. Gettysburg College JA Hahme Award for Leadership; played hockey, basketball, lacrosse (Captain, Founder, Coach); Mid East, Philadelphia, North Jersey field hockey; South, Central Lacrosse; US Touring Team 1975; Founded Central Penn Women's Lacrosse Assn.; Pres. New Jersey's Women's lacrosse Assn; coached Rutgers lacrosse. Gettysburg Hall of Fame.

Football. Basketball. Track - Football League Champs; All-East Delco quarterback, Captain; Basketball Kiwanis Champs '00-'51, Captain; Track Penn Relays, league Champs One Mile, Captain. Western Maryland College (now McDaniel); golf team.

Football- 26 years with SHS; counselor; President Delco Counselors Assn.; President Philadelphia Eagles Alumni; VP Eagles Fly for Leukemia. Inducted into; West Philadelphia High School Hall of Fame; Delco Hall of Fame; University of Nevada Hall of Fame; Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.


ERIC BEAM - CLass of 1973

Track. Cross Country - Cross Country All-League, All-Delco, Central League Champ, Delco Champ, All-State, Captain; Track Central League and Delco Champ junior and senior year, PA State Champ in mile senior year (all-time PA state record), All-American #7 rank USA mile run. LaSalle University cross-country captain and All-Conference; Track Captain, ECC 2 mile and 1CXX>m. champ, All Big 5, AIIIC4A, 3-lime ECC mile champ and holder of LaSalle records.

Baseball. Basketball- 3 varsity letters in baseball; 2 varsity letters in basketball, captain. East Stroudsburg 3 years baseball; 3 years basketball.


DALE E. FRY - Coach

Cross Country. Track and Field - Cross Country ('56 to '71) 87-351; Track and Field ('62 to '69) 55-4-1; Chester Times Cross Country Coach of the Year 1959; started Delco Championships in cross country, girls' track, and Junior Olympics; coached 5 All State athletes; 5 Suburban South, 2 Central League, 3 Delco Track Championships; 2 Suburban South, 1 Central League, 1 Delco Cross Country Championships; Springfield Jaycees 'Outstanding Young Man of the Year 1968; Junior Women's Club recognition as Director of Delco Girls Championship Track meet for 10 years.

Field Hockey. Lacrosse - Hockey co-captain; Outstanding Female Athlete; first undefeated, untied, unscored upon hockey team junior year; Varsity Club president. Ursinus College field hockey and lacrosse; Philadelphia teams selector; coached high school and college hockey, basketball, lacrosse, tennis; lacrosse and hockey official; Philadelphia Officials 25 Year Service Award.
