'GOV' SCHOPF - Coach

All boys sports - Career covered 4 decades (arrived in '31 when SHS opened); Football, won 80% of his games over 20 years with 7 undefeated teams; Track, won 1 District, 4 Suburban and 3 Delco team championships; developed 10 individual and 2 team relay State Track champions; final coaching duties were junior high football and senior high track.


DAVID FERRELL - CLass of 1974

Soccer. Baseball- Outstanding Male Athlete; soccer tri-captain; baseball pitcher (6-0), Central League Champs. University of Delaware Soccer, All East Coast Conference 2 years, Division I 2nd Team All American 2 years, co-captain 2 years, MVP 2 years; NASL 2nd round draft pick by Tulsa (later by Philadelphia); 11 years amateur and semi-pro soccer.

Basketball. Baseball- Basketball All Eastern Delco '56, '57; Kiwanis Tournament MVP '57; Baseball All Eastern Delco '57; captain.


TRACY STUMPF - Class of 1982

Field Hockey. Basketball. Lacrosse - Basketball 4 years; All Central League 1st team 2 years; All-Delco 1st team 2 years; 1 ,040 career points; Hockey and lacrosse 3 years; All-Central League hockey and lacrosse; Outstanding Female Athlete. University of Maryland full scholarship; 4 years lacrosse and field hockey (captain of both); Lacrosse 1st Team All-American '85, '86; lacrosse 1st team All-Atlantic Coast Conference 3 years; MVP; Outstanding Defensive Player '84; NCAA Lacrosse Champions '86; Field hockey Regional All-American and All-Atlantic Coast Conference '85, '86; Outstanding Woman Athlete '86; NCAA Charter member of lacrosse Players of the Decade; Lacrosse U.S. World Cup Championship Team '89; U.S. Lacrosse Touring Team.


HUGH BATHGATE - CLass of 1938

Football. Basketball. Track - District Championship basketball team; State Champion in low hurdles and mile relay.


JEAN STETTLER - CLass of 1966

Field Hockey. Basketball. Lacrosse - Outstanding Female Athlete; basketball captain. Ursinus College lacrosse captain; All College II Lacrosse '70; also played hockey, basketball, softball. Coached Philadelphia I National Lacrosse Champs '72; coached Philadelphia II and III lacrosse teams; selector for Virginia regional lacrosse teams; coached South teams in National Tournament; NCAA Field Hockey Committee 3 years.


ACE BELL - Coach

Baseball - 40 years at SHS; 40 years football assistant; 8 years head basketball coach, 2 league titles, 4 Kiwanis Championships; 33 years head baseball coach, 9 league championships, 330 wins, 2 Major League players (Mike Scioscia and Bob Gibson); Delaware County Sports Hall of Fame 1984; West Chester University Baseball Hall of Fame 1991.


KATHY MULLAN HARRIS - Class of 1968

Field Hockey. Tennis - Member of undefeated, untied, unscored upon hockey team; Tennis State Champion '68, ranked age group #1 '00-'68, undefeated 3 years; Senior Service Award. Penn State University hockey, #1 squash, #1 tennis; Mid-east Sectional hockey; #3 in nation in squash '69; Middle States Collegiate Tennis Champion '69; Eastern College finalist '69. Tennis pro 6 years; International Tennis Tour in Europe '75.


LISA BATCH LOCKLEY - CLass of 1975

Field Hockey. Basketball. Lacrosse. Track - AAU Nationals at age 14; SHS State track meets 2 years; 4th in 220 yard dash '74; undefeated in 100 and 220 in ventral League and Delco. Morgan State University 151 in Penn Relays '76, '77; 76 Olympic Trials; 3rd in East Coast 440 relay; helped form first Morgan State track team; 4th in 440 relay '77 Collegiate Nationals. SHS assistant track coach '87; Philadelphia Hawks Track Club national competition; '91 Sub Master 1st place in 60 meters and long jump.


DICK WALKUP - Class of 1949

Football. Basketball. Track - 3 sports for 3 years; .Outstanding Male Athlete; Delco Coaches Association Back of the Week; All-Delco 2nd team; Philadelphia Districts All-Scholastic Honorable Mention Football; Gold Football Award; Basketball All-Suburban Conference 1st team; District I Track and Field pole vault 2nd place tie, javelin 1st place; Delco Valley League Baseball All-Star game '48, '49. U.S. Air Force and Masters track and field competition; Delco Hall of Fame; National Master Champion in javelin, 2nd in shot put '80.
