Through the SSD Advisory Team, the Cougar Collective was established to ensure all students are prepared, by learning innovative reading and writing skills, to graduate to the rigorous academic program at the high school. The Collective, consisting of 20 middle school students, create and celebrate student writings, essay contests, literacy magazine and website development and 'writer(s) of the month' selections.
